Ordering from an online retailer can be difficult, especially when you can not try on clothing like at a local mall. This guide will help describe the steps you need to take to ensure a great fitting leotard.
You need a flexible tape measure and some snug fitting clothes, preferably a leotard or swimsuit to wear. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart and hold arms down by side. Stand up straight with your chin up and shoulders back like you are standing at attention. Now have someone measure around your chest at the largest area. Make sure the measuring tape is snug against the body, but not so tight that it is pressing into your skin. Make sure the measuring tape is not drooping and goes around the chest staying level with the ground. This is your chest measurement.
Next, repeat around the narrowest part of the waist. This is your waist measurement for your leotard.
Repeat around the widest part of your hips. This is your hip measurement for your leotard.
Now measure the length of your torso. Place the tape measure on top of your right shoulder where your shoulder strap would lay. Run the tape measure down the front of your body, between your legs and back up to the right shoulder. Make sure the tape measure is snug, but not too tight. This is your torso or girth measurement for your leotard.
You can also take an arm length measurement for long sleeved leotards. Feel on top of your right shoulder for a bone that stands up. Place the tape measure on that bone. Keeping your arm straight and out run the tape measure along the length of your arm to the point where you want the sleeve to stop. For long sleeves, this is to the wrist bone or slightly longer.
Using these measurements, determine where you fit in our
size chart. If your measurements land all in one size, it’s an easy decision on what size leotard to order. If you land in two different sizes, then order the larger size. If you land in more than two sizes, we recommend you try our custom fit sizing where we make the leotard to your measurements.
